They are loving and enjoy being close to their human companions, often following them around the house.

Beautiful Appearance

Ragdolls have striking blue eyes and a silky, semi-long coat in various colour patterns, adding to their charm.

Playful Personality

Despite their laid-back attitude, Ragdolls are playful and enjoy interactive games with their owners.

Good with Children & Pets

They are typically tolerant of children and get along well with other pets, making them a great addition to multi-pet households.

Low Shedding

Highly Adaptable

Intelligent & Trainable

They are smart cats that can be trained to play fetch and learn tricks, providing mental stimulation for both cat and owner.

Lap Cat Qualities

Lifetime Companion

Ragdolls often form strong bonds with their families and can live for 12 to 17 years or more with proper care, providing long-lasting companionship.

The Ragdoll Breed – Beauty, Temperament & Care

A gentle, affectionate companion perfectly suited for modern families

Distinctive Appearance

Ragdolls are large, laid-back cats with semi-longhaired coats and striking blue eyes. As a pointed breed, their bodies are lighter in colour than their darker points including the face, legs, tail, and ears. These affectionate cats come in three patterns: two with white (mitted and bi-colour) and one without (colourpoint), carefully bred for their gentle temperament.

Size & Maturity

An ideal Ragdoll is well-proportioned without exaggerated features. Neutered males typically weigh between 15–20 pounds, while females average 10–15 pounds at maturity. Slow to mature, Ragdolls develop their full coat colour by two years and reach their full size and weight by four.

Personality & Social Nature

Ragdolls are notably social and prefer human company over solitude. They greet their owners enthusiastically, follow them around, and enjoy lounging close by or sleeping alongside them. Many can be trained to come when called and even play fetch. Known for their gentle play, Ragdolls rarely extend their claws and tend to stay closer to the ground rather than jumping.

Coat Care & Maintenance

Their semi-long, plush coats are easy to maintain with regular combing using a steel comb to prevent tangles and remove loose hair. Ragdolls shed seasonally but have reduced shedding due to their lack of a thick undercoat. Overall, they are well-mannered, low-maintenance companions suited to modern, busy lifestyles.
